We haven't done a Barbie / Princess Cake before but couldn't reject the request. And we were glad we didn't! It was a challenge and it was a fun one!
Mimi (mummy to birthday girl Hailie) requested that the princess would be wearing a pretty navy blue dress with some pink because that's what sweet Hailie will be wearing to her birthday party. So it was a good time to put all my piping tips to good use… i haven't done this much piping techniques in one cake! and honestly we are pretty happy with our end product :)
I started of with the skirt first using a giant cupcake top mold with extra layers of cake below to make the skirt a little longer so as to proportion the length of legs to the body of the doll. Started looking at some pictures online and ideas for the design came thru… and pretty much knew what i wanted for its design in my head. I didn't start off sketching the design or anything… i just went right down to piping the frosting on the skirt. It was like i was in the 'zone' from start to finish!
Most customers probably would not notice this but i was pretty much obsessed with the piping details! for my first attempt in a Barbie / Princess Cake… I'm happy with the results! AlhamduLillah Mummy and Hailie are too! ;)
We want to thank Mummy Mimi for her support with SweetBakes for the first time and the opportunity for allowing us to do something that we haven't done before! Looking forward to doing more Princess Cakes really… ;) Do contact us if you need a Princess Cake!
Till next time… Have a great week ahead everyone!
